Why Us?

Alaska Wilderness Lodge near Homer Alaska

What other Alaska Lodge has a mile-wide glacier in its back yard, direct access to 60 miles of designated hiking trails, and a pristine ocean-cove location?

Top 5 reasons to choose Hideaway Cove Wilderness

1) Prime location within the Borders of Alaska’s first State Park.  Experience the natural beauty by foot, kayak, motorized skiff, or rocking chair!   As the only lodge offering guests direct access to state park hiking trails, you will be awestruck by the beautiful hiking trails from the lodge.

2) Sea coast location accessible only by boat!  Experience peace and quiet in true wilderness spirit.  Although it feels like a world away, our ocean-front location is just a 30-minute boat cruise from Homer, Alaska.  Considering our unique location, guests are often surprised by the quality accommodations.  They especially love the  ocean front views from their hand-crafted cabin!

3) Wildlife viewing opportunities.  Where else can you wake to a sea otter swimming in front of your private cabin, or have the excitement of your dinner interrupted by a bear foraging on the beach? Designed by our on-staff wildlife biologist, the lodge minimizes it’s impact on the environment, while maximizing wildlife viewing opportunities.

4)  Unique Guided Excursions!  Many guests have told us that the guided glacier kayaking was their best experience in all of Alaska!  Our friendly guides and small group size results in more personalized service and a better over-all experience.  Whether hiking, kayaking, or cruising the coastline in search of wildlife, you can be sure you will be well taken care of; our 20-year safety record speaks for itself!

5) The friendly atmosphere.  Hideaway Cove Lodge is a bit more "low key" than other upscale wilderness lodges. Our guests appreciate the down-to-earth atmosphere around the lodge. Instead of an up-tight "casino" feel, you will experience more of an "island" feel around Hideaway Cove; friendly and relaxed.

"You may never find a more beautiful place." -- Roger, Wisconsin

Hideaway Cove Wilderness Lodge was developed in harmony with it's special location. We have purposefully kept the lodge quaint. We believe nature is best enjoyed in small groups, away from the tourist crowds. As stewards of the environment, we have taken an "Earth-friendly" approach in developing the lodge. We are especially proud of our solar power system, which generates nearly 100% of our electricity. Our fresh water comes from a mountain spring and our waste-water system is engineered well beyond government standards. Our main lodge building is a low-impact yurt and the log cabins were built using beetle-killed timber. In our day to day operations, we encourage "leave-no-trace" activities. This way, generations to come will experience the same beauty as we have.

"...we could not have been more pleased with an experience of a lifetime. Jordan was our guide and the passion for what he did and appreciation of the beauty came shining through. We shared a breathtaking day of adventure and natural beauty kayaking Grewingk Glacier Lake among the icebergs! His specific instruction and constant concerns for our safety were relayed with patience, and at every opportunity he shared his wisdom in points of interest on the lake and the trails.. We would highly recommend this incredible opportunity!"
