Alaska Wilderness Lodge near Homer Alaska


Guests at Hideaway Cove Wilderness Lodge can choose from one-night to five-night packages. Rates include scenic boat ride to and from lodge, ocean-front log cabin, all lodge facilities, delicious meals, and activities.

1-night lodge package
a perfect introduction to the Alaskan Wilderness.  Includes a guided glacier trip.

2-night lodge package
a perfect "add on" to a stay in Homer.  Includes a guided glacier trip and a free day to explore on your own.

3-night wilderness lodge package
Our most popular package. Includes 2 guided trips and a free day to relax or explore on your own.

4-night wilderness lodge package
Same as the 3 night with an extra day for exploring or relaxing.

5-night wilderness lodge package 
WOW!!  Glaciers, kayaking, hiking, marine life, with an optional day of bear viewing.

7-day 6-night Deluxe National Park Explorer Package
 A deluxe package that includes wildlife safaris into two National Parks!

One-Night Lodge Package

Day 1
Depart Homer at 6 pm for an evening spent at Hideaway Cove Wilderness Lodge. Enjoy a private, ocean-front cabin completely surrounded by Kachemak Bay State Park. You can also relax in the main lodge, sit on the viewing deck, relax in the cedar sauna, or stroll the rocky beaches.

Day 2
After breakfast, enjoy a guided day trip; hiking and kayaking at a pristine, glacier-carved lake. Kayak among the ice bergs, enjoy the breathtaking beauty and enjoy lunch overlooking the magnificent glacier. Hike back to the lodge and return to Homer by boat in the late afternoon.
This day includes 2-3 hours hiking and 2-3 hours kayaking

Two-night Wilderness Lodge Package

(Preferred check-in days are Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays.)

Day 1
Enjoy a late afternoon departure to Hideaway Cove, arriving at the Lodge after a scenic 30-minute boat ride. After a tour of the grounds, guests can relax in their cabin, the main lodge, out on the viewing deck, or stroll the rocky beaches.

Day 2
After breakfast in the lodge, enjoy a full day of hiking and kayaking at a nearby glacier. A 2-mile hike through a coastal forest, brings us to a pristine glacier-carved lake. After the hike, paddle a stable sea kayak around mammoth icebergs and along the rugged shores of the lake. Explore and photograph the virgin landscape at the face of the glacier while learning first hand about the incredible power of moving ice. After lunch, hike back to Hideaway Cove Lodge. In the evening, enjoy a hearty dinner at the lodge. After dinner, walk the rocky shoreline, relax in the lodge, or unwind in the wood-fired sauna.
This day includes 2-3 hours hiking and 2-3 hours kayaking

Day 3
Guests can choose to relax around the lodge or hike up a maintained State Park trail to the alpine tundra. The 360 degree views are spectacular. On a clear day, you will enjoy the views of endless mountain peaks, immense glaciers, snow-capped volcanoes and the crystal waters of Kachemak Bay. If you've never seen alpine tundra, don't miss this chance. Hike back to the lodge and return to Homer by boat around 6:00 p.m.

This day includes 4-6 hours hiking.

Three-night Wilderness Lodge Package

(Preferred check-in days are Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays.)

Day 1

After breakfast in the lodge, enjoy a full day of hiking and kayaking at a nearby glacier. A 2-mile hike through a coastal forest, brings us to a pristine glacier-carved lake. After the hike, paddle a stable sea kayak around mammoth icebergs and along the rugged shores of the lake. Explore and photograph the virgin landscape at the face of the glacier while learning first hand about the incredible power of moving ice. After lunch, hike back to Hideaway Cove Lodge. In the evening, enjoy a hearty dinner at the lodge. After dinner, walk the rocky shoreline, relax in the lodge, or unwind in the wood-fired sauna.
This day includes 2-3 hours hiking and 2-3 hours kayaking

Day 3
After a relaxing breakfast, embark on a half-day sea-kayak tour of historic Halibut Cove. You will be awestruck by the beauty and history of this remote corner of Alaska. Snow-capped mountains, sea cliffs, and marine wildlife are all enjoyed from the comfort of your stable sea kayak. In addition to the kayaking, you also go beach combing on a remote pebble beach. After the tour, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxing. This trip includes 2-3 hours kayaking and 1 hour of walking.

Day 4

Four-night Wilderness Lodge Package

(Preferred check-in days are Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays.)

Day 2 After breakfast, enjoy a full day of hiking and kayaking at a nearby glacier. A 2-mile hike through a coastal forest brings us to a pristine, glacier-carved lake. After the hike, paddle a stable sea kayak around mammoth icebergs and along the rugged shores of the lake. Explore and photograph the virgin landscape at the face of the glacier while learning first hand about the incredible power of moving ice. You even touch an iceberg!! After lunch, hike back to the Lodge. In the evening, enjoy a hearty dinner at the lodge. After dinner, walk the rocky shoreline, relax in the lodge, or unwind in the wood-fired sauna. This day includes 2-3 hours hiking and 2-3 hours kayaking

Day 4 This day you pick your activities, either guided or unguided.

  • Guided bear viewing in Katmai National Park, Please add $749 to package price
  • 2-hour wildlife boat tour, Please add $95 to package price
  • Guided sport fishing, Halibut or Salmon Please add $399 for Full-day, $199 for half day to package price

For no additional cost, guests can have a free day to relax and unwind around the lodge, or explore the hiking trails of the park. Guests have direct access to the following trail destinations, (hiking times are one way) :

  • Glacier lake; a perfect photo and pic nic spot; one hour; casual
  • Glacier river crossing;  cross the river using a cable car/hand tram, 2 hours; moderate
  • Remote beach combing;  hike the glacier valley to a pristine beach, 3 hours; moderate
  • Glacier Ice; hike to the edge of the massive Grewingk glacier, 5 hours; challenging
  • Alpine Ridge trail; alpine tundra and amazing vistas,  2-3 hours; moderate to challenging
  • Salmon stream; see thousands of migrating salmonin August, 3 hours; moderate
  • Shoreline walk; explore tide pools, sea cave and unique rock formations around the lodge (tide permitting), one hour; casual
  • Guests can also relax at the lodge, look for wildlife from the seaside deck, or venture out in the row boat along the shoreline near the lodge.  

Day 5 The final morning, enjoy breakfast, and arrive back in Homer in the morning .

Five-night Wilderness Lodge Package

(Preferred check-in days are Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays.)

Day 1

Day 2 After breakfast in the lodge, enjoy a full day of hiking and kayaking at a nearby glacier.A 2-mile hike through a coastal forest, brings us to a pristine glacier-carved lake. After the hike, paddle a stable sea kayak around mammoth icebergs and along the rugged shores of the lake.Explore and photograph the virgin landscape at the face of the glacier while learning first hand about the incredible power of moving ice.After lunch, hike back to Hideaway Cove Lodge. Day 3 After a relaxing morning at the lodge, embark on a half-day guided sea-kayak tour of historic Halibut Cove. You will be awestruck by the beauty and history of this remote corner of Alaska. In addition to the kayaking, you also gobeach combing on a remote and pristine pebble beach. After the tour, return to the lodge and relax. This day includes 2-3 hours kayaking and 1 hour of walking.

Days 4 These days you pick your activities

  • Guided bear viewing in Katmai National Park, Please add $700 to package price
  • Guided sport fishing, Halibut or Salmon. Please add $300/person to package price for full day, or $150/person for half-day
  • Guided fly-out fishing $600/person

Day 5 Guests can choose either a marine wildlife tour or a half-day of sport fishing, The narrated wildlife tour cruises the protected waters of Kachemak Bay searching for sea otters, harbor seals, porpoise, bald eagles, puffins, and a variety of bird life. If your lucky, your experienced guide will find you a black bear foraging on the beach or a passing orca or humpback whale. Weather permitting, you will also visit the largest sea bird rookery in the Cook Inlet region. Guests wanting to go fishing can embark on a half-day deep sea fishing excursion. All fishing gear is provided and, if all goes well, we'll cook up your catch of the day for your evening meal! (please note, there is a 2 person minimum for the wildlife tour and fishing excursions)

Day 6 Enjoy breakfast, depart the lodge, and arrive back in Homer in the morning
